Community Involvement

Obviously, I love teaching, but my life involves more. I am involved with Boy Scouts, Washington District 52, Washington High School, and my Faith community(see also 'Spare Time').

Boy Scouts
I have taught 6 years of day camp archery, been den leader, cub master, committee member, and national volunteer staff member. I am certified for shooting sports, swimming, boating, and various merit badges. I have been on more campouts than I care to count. Hundreds of boys in the area form age 21 down know me by name. Some of them come to Eureka College.

Washington District 52
We chose a home in Washington District 52 in part because of how impressed we were with the then superintendant. (HINT: He is now teaching at Eureka College.) We received a Friend of Education Award in 2003 because of our desire to make our boys' school better. It warms my heart when one of their teachers is a Eureka Alum.

Washington High School
We are strong supporters of the Band program at the High School. Our family helped with the efforts to improve the High School facilities.

My Faith
I have been involved with the Baha'i Community for over 30 years now. I am trained to work with small nonprofit group treasurers, Sunday School teachers and parents. If you do not know what a Baha'i is, try: info.bahai.org.
