Edited by Lucius A. Hine, the Herald of Truth was a well-printed review which focused mainly on religion, philosophy, literature, science, and the arts, and engaged vigorously in the reforms of the day but claimed to be non-sectarian and nonpartisan . It published a good deal of poetry, including some by the Cary sisters, Phoebe and Alice, and reviews of new publications.
