In the area of science, this literary and scientific magazine published a summary of science news and articles on astronomy, geology, animals, and birds, and on other science topics as well. In the literary area, it published book reviews, essays on literature, and poetry, including some by Mrs. Mary E. Hewitt and Alfred B. Street. Political and religious news were also given coverage, and a ladies' department was added during the second volume. Numerous illustrations were included.
