Published by the New England Anti-Slavery Society, this monthly anti-slavery journal was concerned with promoting the immediate abolition of slavery and with improving the condition of free blacks in the U.S. In addition to articles on slavery in the U.S. and the West Indies, this 16-page paper published proceedings of meetings and annual reports of the New England Anti-Slavery Society, as well as material on the American Colonization Society and various other anti-slavery societies. Some letters and poetry were also included.
